Credible Content Builds Online Reputation & Image

When publishing content on your website and social media, be wary of annoying your audience and creating negative perceptions. Quality content over quantity.
In this Information revolution age, we have so many different channels to communicate and send our messages. The digital sphere has now made it so much more accessible for everyone; faster and easier.

However, it seems many are fast becoming content greedy – in other words flooding information about their business (product or service) or organisation in every way they can and every instance they can.

Although content is fundamental for boosting your website’s online presence and search engine ranking (SEO), it does not necessarily mean you will gain the positive outcome you desire; such as traffic back to your website and some sort of call to action, i.e. buy your product or sign up.

In fact the reverse can happen.

1.     It could be viewed as content spam – to your audience that is – annoying them more and more every time they see something from you, which might then actually create a negative image of your brand. This is especially true if you do not already have a solid existing reputation and authority in the sector.

2.     Reputation management. Information will always be online and can spread quickly. It can also be very difficult to take down latter, especially in areas such as social media once others have re-shared or ‘liked’. So consider the long term affects, and how this might position you.

Caution should always be taken when establishing an online identity and reputation, and how it’s maintained. Be focussed with what information you release and how often, and consider the psychology of your audience, as well as the current online trends and behaviours.

Indeed, there is a fine balance to creating valuable content for reinstating messages to promote a brand, with starting to annoy an audience and creating negative perceptions.

At Web-Conceptions, we say always try to be more selective, professional, and of course creative with your content. In Greek, we say “liga kai kala”, which roughly translated means “a little and good”.

Quality over quantity.

  2. Thanks very much Hakim, very much appreciate it. We think its important to be selective and concise when releasing content, thereby maintaining quality of quantity, and as much as possible avoiding what even might be considered as 'spam'. Otherwise you will create the opposite impact, and although everyone says "Any PR is good PR" - and sure this might very well be the case - in digital content it is somewhat different, and spam is very much upon us.
    Sure will keep posting.
    Thanks ahain
